The agent of Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has moved to confirm that he has been contacted by Serie A giants Napoli.
The Polish striker is in the final year of his contract at Signal-Iduna Park and having refused to extend his current deal, he is set to leave the club on a free transfer next summer.
Lewandowski continues to be linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but his agent has revealed that Napoli are also keen.
“I cannot say how long I talked with (Napoli president Aurelio) De Laurentiis, that is something that must remain between us,” agent Cezary Kucharski told Radio Crc.
“But, I can say that we also spoke recently.”
Napoli did well to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid after Edinson Cavani had been sold to Paris Saint-Germain, but it is no secret they are looking to sign another high-profile forward.
With his contract due to expire next summer, Lewandowski is likely to become the most sought-after players in Europe, with his record of 50 goals in last 70 Bundesliga matches likely to appeal to a number of high-profile clubs.
