(GSM) – Libertad were held to a 1-1 draw by Universitario of Peru in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday, but the Paraguayans remained atop Group 4 on goal difference.

After a scoreless first half, Libertad took the lead at Estadio Defensores del Chaco when Víctor Ayala fired a shot beyond Universitario goalkeeper Raúl Fernández.

A victory would have put Libertad three points clear with two group games to play, but Luis Ramírez’s goal with four minutes to play earned a point for the visitors from Lima.

Libertad and Universitario both sit on eight points, but the Paraguayans have a three-goal edge in goal difference.

The other two teams in the group – Lanús and Blooming – will meet on Wednesday evening in Argentina.
