(GSM) – Guadalajara of Mexico have qualified for the Copa Libertadores quarter finals despite losing 2-0 at Velez Sarsfield on Tuesday.
After a 3-0 win in their home leg, Guadalajara thought to have an easy game in the return leg, played in Buenos Aires.
But Santiago Silva put the Argentinians ahead after just three minutes and when Rolando Zarate scored another in the 89th, Velez needed only one more goal to level the aggregate score.
But Guadalajara avoided further damage to win the tie 3-2 on aggregate.
Guadalajara, who were allowed to skip the group phase to make up for Mexico’s teams missing the knock-out phase due to swine flu last year, face either Libertad of Paraguay or Once Caldas of Colombia in the quarter final.
