Academica de Coimbra suffered their second five-goal thrashing in a row on Friday, going down 5-0 away to Braga in the Liga Sagres.
Academica were on the wrong end of a 5-1 hammering at home to fellow mid-table side Maritimo last time out and they received another hiding at the Estadio Municipal de Braga.
They were behind within four minutes of the kick-off, with Paulo Cesar opening the scoring for the hosts.
Paulao made it two in the 25th minute and Academica must have been fearing the worst when Senegalese forward Ladji Keita put Braga 3-0 up with 10 minutes still to play in the first half.
Cameroon’s Albert Meyong Ze weighed in with the fourth in the 72nd minute before the home side went down to 10 men following the dismissal of Custodio for second bookable offence.
Undeterred, Braga still managed to find another goal, with Hugo Viana completing the rout in the 90th minute.
Victory lifts Braga to sixth in the table, ahead of Nacional, who travel to Olhanense on Sunday.
Academica drop to eighth and can slide further if Beira-Mar beat Vitoria Guimaraes on Saturday.
