Sporting Lisbon are still looking for their first win in 2012 after they were held to a goalless draw at Olhanense on Monday.
The share of the spoils means Sporting move into fifth place on the Liga Sagres table with 29 points, level with Maritimo.
But they trail fourth-placed Braga by five points as the battle for the third Champions League spot continues.
Sporting have drawn four of their last five games while Olhanense languish in mid-table on 18 points with little hope of catching the top five.
The result could have been worse for the visitors, however, had Sporting keeper Rui Patricio not produced a fabulous double save to deny Wilson Eduardo and Cameroon striker Jean-Paul Yontcha late on.
Earlier, Sporting’s Chile midfielder Matias Fernandez went close with a curling free kick while Olhanense’s Brazilian summer signing Caue was just wide with a header.
