Academica stunned fourth-placed Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal’s Liga Sagres with a 2-0 away win on Friday.

The 11th-placed club trailed their opponents by 12 points on the table heading into the clash, but they shocked the hosts at Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques on the hour mark when Guinea-Bissau striker Eder found the back of the net.

Academica topped off the win with a 90th minute goal through Brazilian substitute Laionel, with the win moving the club into 12th spot, nine points clear of the drop zone, and seemingly safe from relegation.

Vitoria missed the chance to climb to third, and may lose fourth spot should Pacos de Ferreira beat Vitoria Setubal on Saturday.
