Maritimo climbed above Olhanense with a 4-0 win over their mid-table opponents in Portugal’s Liga Sagres on Sunday.

A brace from Selim Benachour was sandwiched between goals from Babacar Diawara and Djalma at the Estadio dos Barreiros, helping Maritimo go level on points with Olhanense, but above them on superior goal difference.

Vitoria Setubal boosted their survival chances in the Portuguese top flight with a 2-1 upset win over Nacional.

Neca put the hosts ahead in the sixth minute at the Estadio do Bonfim, and they eventually doubled their lead and sealed the result when Jailson netted in the 79th minute.

Anselmo pulled a goal back for Nacional deep into injury time, but it was not enough to salvage a point, and they will remain seventh while Vitoria Setubal move five points clear of the drop in 14th place.

Beira Mar dramatically collapsed to drop a two-goal lead away at Naval 1 de Maio, to draw 2-2 with the cellar dwellers, finishing the match with just nine men.

The visitors at Estadio Municipal, Jose Bento Pessoa scored twice in the opening half through Leandro Tatu and Artur, but the game took a dramatic turn when Beira Mar defender Hugo was sent off in the 66th minute.

The home side pushed to find one goal to get them back in the game, and it came from a Manuel Curto penalty in the 82nd minute.

Five minutes later, Curto equalised, again from the penalty spot, to give the hosts hope of a dramatic win.

Naval could not find a third goal, but Yohan Tavares was sent off late for Beira Mar to cap a dramatic loss of points for the ninth-placed team.
