Academica full-back David Addy was shown a straight red card in the 50th minute, before Maritimo defender Robson was given his marching orders in stoppage time.
Maritimo sit in ninth while Academica are not yet safe in 13th.
Beira-Mar played out a 1-1 draw at home to Rio Ave.
Yohan Tavares opened the scoring for the hosts after a quarter of an hour, before Tarantini equalised four minutes after the interval.
Rio Ave are fighting for a European spot and sit two points behind Nacional, while Beira-Mar are in 10th.
