Champions Lille missed a chance to move top of the Ligue 1 standings on Tuesday when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux.
And it could have been worse for Lille had Mali striker Cheick Diabate been able to convert a second-half penalty for the hosts.
Diabate opened the scoring for Bordeaux in the seventh minute from the penalty spot, after he had been brought down inside the box by Florent Balmont.
Lille were back on level terms 12 minutes after the break, when Eden Hazard linked up with former Chelsea and Liverpool winger Joe Cole before firing a right-footed shot past Kevin Olimpa in the Bordeaux goal.
Diabate had the chance to win the match 10 minutes from the end when Lille goalkeeper Mickael Landreau fouled substitute Fahid Ben Khalfallah.
But the striker’s spot-kick cannoned off the post, forcing both sides to settle for a point.
