Ligue 1 preview: PSG chase points against struggling Bordeaux

Table-toppers Paris Saint-Germain are aiming for a seventh straight Ligue 1 win, while Montpellier will look to keep the pressure on.

Big-spending PSG are unbeaten in the league since their opening encounter, and they should extend that streak when they travel to Bordeaux on Sunday.

Striker Kevin Gameiro, one of several off-season signings, has netted eight goals in the league this campaign, but the last of those came on October 16.

Antoine Kombouare’s men have done the job without Gameiro finding the net, mostly thanks to Brazilian Nene and Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore (six goals).

They meet 15th-placed Bordeaux, who ended a seven-match winless run with a 2-0 victory over Ajaccio on Saturday on the back of a Yoann Gourcuff brace.

Elsewhere, second-placed Montpellier travel to Saint-Etienne, needing PSG to slip up to have any chance of holding top spot at the end of the weekend.

Olivier Giroud (eight goals) has been their main man in attack as they sit three points adrift of the league leaders.

Champions Lille, who are third and a further three points adrift, will be confident of winning at home to promoted outfit Evian TG in the only game on Saturday.

Lyon will be out to bounce back from their loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League when they travel to take on 11th-placed Sochaux.

It has been an inconsistent run in the league for Lyon, having not recorded consecutive wins since September.

In other matches, Auxerre, on a four-match winless run, will host Toulouse, while ninth-placed Marseille take on Nice at Stade Velodrome.

Struggling Valenciennes can get out of the relegation zone with a result at Stade Rennes, while Nancy can do likewise if they win at home to Brest.

Bottom-placed Ajaccio have lost three games on the trot heading into their encounter with Lorient.

Dijon, who sit a spot above the drop zone, can move further clear with a result against Caen at Stade Michel d’Ornano.
