Lille moved to the top of Ligue 1 with a hard-fought 2-1 home victory against Monaco on Sunday.
Lille have lost just one of their last seven games in all competitions and replaced Montpellier at the summit of French top-flight football after their victory.
Pierre-Alain Frau gave Lille a 39th minute advantage but they looked like they may have missed the chance to go top when Adriano Pereira equalised for Monaco just after half-time.
But as good sides do, Lille fought back with an inspired substitution from manager Rudi Garcia changing the match.
Just six minutes after arriving on the pitch, Polish midfielder Ludovic Obraniak fired home the all-important winner.
Eden Hazard set the goal up – his second assist for the game – and Lille managed to hang on despite some nervy moments towards the end.
Bordeaux were also winners on Sunday, emerging victorious in a six goal thriller on their trip to Arles.
An Anthony Modeste hat-trick fired Jean Tigana’s side to a terrific 4-2 away win which leaves Arles eight points adrift of the second-from-bottom Lens.
Camel Meriem gave Arles a shock lead after 22 minutes, but Modeste’s first – from the penalty spot – and a Yoan Gouffran strike put Bordeaux in front at half-time.
Modeste struck twice more before former Watford and Fulham striker Hameur Bouazza snatched a late consolation.
Lyon climbed to eighth with a 3-1 win away to struggling Lens.
Ivory Coast international Kanga Akale put the hosts in front after 24 minutes at the Stade Felix-Bollaert and the second-bottom side held the led well into the second half, before a nine-minute brace from Frenchman Bafetimbi Gomis swung proceedings in Lyon’s favour.
Argentinean substitute Lisandro L?pez made it 3-1 in the 90th minute.
Lyon continue to recover from their dismal start to the season and are now unbeaten in their last seven league games.
