Paris Saint-Germain failed to claim outright first in Ligue 1 after drawing with Monaco on Saturday, allowing Stade Rennes to pull level.
PSG were just a point behind league-leaders Lille going into the match, but they fell behind at the Parc des Princes to a Monaco side struggling just outside the relegation zone.
Sebastien Puygrenier put the visitors in front 31 minutes in, but a brace from Nene either side of half-time saw PSG transform the deficit into a one-goal lead.
They were on course to move top by two points heading towards the final whistle, but Monaco snatched a controversial late equaliser.
Expecting their opponents to put the ball out for a stricken Stephane Sessegnon to seek treatment, the PSG defence was aghast as Daniel Niculae played on, converting a Nicolas N’Koulou cross with two minutes remaining.
The draw leaves Monaco one point clear of Caen and Lens, with second and third bottom playing each other on Sunday.
PSG meanwhile are level with Lille, who can move three points clear with a win at home to Nancy, also on Sunday.
Stade Rennes joined PSG and Lille on 31 points following a 1-0 win at home to Valenciennes.
The hosts looked to be heading for a frustrating draw at the Stade de la Route de Lorient, but France under-21 striker Jean Kana Biyik snatched all three points with a last-gasp winner four minutes into added time.
Elsewhere, Saint Etienne climbed to fifth with a 2-0 win over hapless Arles.
Rooted to the foot of the table with just one win and seven points so far this season, Arles threw away any chance of a result in a disastrous five-minute spell just after half-time.
They conceded two goals in the space of a minute, first to Laurent Batlles and then Emmanuel Riviere, before going down to 10 men with the dismissal of Sebastien Piocelle.
Montpellier drew 1-1 at home to Auxerre, while Brest held their hosts Nice to the same score-line.
Lorient came away from Toulouse empty handed after being dispatched 3-0.
