With a golden opportunity to book their spot in the semi-final of this year’s French League Cup, Lille will welcome Amiens to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, despite making a string of changes over the weekend, Lille managed to see off lower league Raon l’Etape thanks to a dramatic 3-2 victory and Head Coach Christophe Galtier is desperate for his side to build off of that results. Returning from the festive break with their spot in the top-four restored, Les Dogues have won three of their last four and have continued to shine at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Led by leading marksman Victor Osimhen who sits third in the race for France’s Golden Boot, Lille have won each of their last three matches on home soil and should be confident of extending that run in midweek.

As for the visitors, crashing out of the Coupe de la Ligue away at Rennes over the weekend, Amiens return from the international break firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. Recording just a single victory across any format since the 2nd of November, an eight-match run, it will undoubtedly be their form on the road giving Luka Elsner the biggest headache. Including a 4-1 hammering away at PSG last month, Amiens have lost each of their last five matches away from the Stade de la Licorne and they have also failed to record a single away victory since the middle of September. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing another long night on the road for Elsner’s men.
