Lille and Marseille vying for Abdennour

French media outlet L’Equipe is reporting that Lille and Marseille have joined the chase to sign Aymen Abdennour from Valencia.

The Tunisian defender was expected to join Zenit on a two-year loan, but the French clubs have made late moves hoping to persuade him to return to Ligue 1.

Marseille have long been keen on Abdennour, but they appeared to have cooled off their interest after signing Adil Rami from Sevilla.

Meanwhile, Lille haven’t enjoyed the best of starts to the new league campaign and it seems that Marcelo Bielsa is in the market for defensive reinforcements.

Aymen Abdennour is one of Valencia’s highest earners, so it remains to be seen whether his salary demands will be met.
