Talk sport are today reporting that Lille could make a move for Barcelona winger Ibrahim Affellay, putting a dent in Liverpool’s hopes of signing the 26-year-old.
Affellay has attracted attention from the Ligue 1 Champions who are apparently set to offer the La Liga giants £6.4 million to secure his services.
The Dutchman has found life hard at Barcelona, making just 20 appearances in the league since joining back in 2011.
Lille will know they must strengthen their squad to retain their title in France’s top flight, especially with the financial power of Paris St Germain, who are also set to be busy in this transfer window.
Barcelona will not let Affellay go easily though as he has been plagued with injuries since joining the Nou Camp, meaning he has not yet had the chance to prove himself with a long run in the side.
However, the money received for the Holland international could give Tito Vilanova the chance to bring new faces to the Catalan club.
This news will surly grab new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers attention, who is also a reported admirer of Affellay.
If the two clubs do go head to head with each other, the transfer fee for the midfielder could rise significantly.
