Lingard to hold Man United exit talks

According to the Mirror, Jesse Lingard is set to hold talks with Manchester United about potentially leaving the club soon.

The 27-year-old (turns 28 this month) was once seen as a big hope of English football, but his career hasn’t gone the way many expected it to and he has now been out of favour at Old Trafford for quite a while. He has only played twice this season, both in the Carabao Cup, with neither a goal nor an assist to his name. He was twice named on the bench in the Premier League, and once in the Champions League. He was completely left out of the squad for all the other matches Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have played so far despite being fully fit.

It’s completely understandable that he wants to seek a new club at this point. Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic have been credited with interest in his services, as have FC Porto.

Lingard’s contract expires at the end of the season, and United will probably seek to sell in January or exercise the option for a 12-month extension at their disposal to try and get at least some money for his services in the summer.
