Despite the efforts of West Ham to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United for the second January window in a row, this time on a permanent deal, the forward is set to see out the remainder of his contract at Old Trafford, according to The Athletic. He could negotiate a move with a club outside England from January 1st, but he is keen to focus on the football and decide his next step at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle, who have also been credited with interest, do not intend to pursue a deal at this point anyway.
The 29-year-old forward hasn’t started a single Premier League match this season so far, having been constrained to eight appearances of the bench in the English top flight. He has also played three times in the Champions League and once in the Carabao Cup, with two goals and one assist in all competitions.
