Joe Cole is on the brink of leaving Liverpool for Tottenham in a three-million pound deal, according to reports in the British media.
The 29-year-old made only nine Premier League starts after joining the Anfield club on a free transfer last summer, signing a four-year deal with Liverpool last July.
The England midfielder played under Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp earlier in his career at West Ham United.
Liverpool could replace Cole with Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson, 20, after reportedly making an 18.5 million-pound bid for the midfielder.
Elsewhere, Ashley Young is set for talks with Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner after being linked with moves to Manchester United or Liverpool.
The 25-year-old, who scored for England in their 2-2 draw with Switzerland on Saturday, has one year left on his contract.
Villa may be forced to cash in on the former Watford man, who wants to play Champions League.
