Liverpool are close to completing a deal sign AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, with reports suggesting the Reds have had a £16M bid accepted by the Serie A outfit.

Many supporters will remember the Italian international during his time in the Premier League with Manchester City. But since the move to his native Italy he has impressed, scoring 14 goals in the league last season.

Betfair are giving odds of 1/14 for the 24-year-old to join Liverpool this summer. The Reds missed out on the Premier League title, but the chance for Balotelli to play in the Champions League this season looks to be something he’s going to take with open hands after AC Milan missed out in 2013/14.

After losing Luis Suarez in the summer, many felt Liverpool would never find decent enough replacements, but Balotelli’s arrival would convince supporters the Reds can attract big names at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers previously denied he was interested in the former Inter Milan and Man City front man, but the club are now hopeful of agree personal terms to sign Balotelli.
