Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign French defender Mamadou Sakho from Paris Saint-Germain, according to L’Equipe.
The Reds have been trying to sign a replacement for Jamie Carragher since the transfer window started and they seem to have finally succeeded in their quest.
L’Equipe has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain have accepted a €17 million offer from Anfield, which should give the Premier League club plenty of time to strike personal terms with the player ahead of Monday’s deadline.
Sakho only had one year left on his deal at Parc des Princes and was desperate to leave the Saints in search of first team football.
Despite his fragile age, the 23-year-old has already amassed 151 Ligue 1 appearances and scored a total of 7 goals.
Sakho has 19 France caps to his name, and the fact he was not called for les Bleus’ friendly match against Belgium only made him more determined to leave PSG.
