Julian Brandt of Bayer Leverkusen has been the subject of much speculation for over two years now. The winger was heavily linked with Liverpool in the spring of 2017, but he reportedly rejected the move to stay at the BayArena. Liverpool in turn signed Mohamed Salah instead, and the rest, as they say, is history.
However, Liverpool are still in need of a versatile forward, one who can successfully step in to replace on of their terrific front three, without the team losing too much of their attacking edge.
Meanwhile, the future of Brandt is once again a topic in the media, and once again he is being linked with Liverpool – but also with Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund are set to part ways with Christian Pulisic, whom they sold to Chelsea back in January and took him back on loan, and Brandt may be the man to step into the American’s shoes. German journalist Raphael Hongstein claims that sources close to the decision-makers at Leverkusen believe both Liverpool and Dortmund to be serious contenders.
