Liverpool and Leeds in race for Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay

Liverpool and Leeds United are set to go toe-to-toe for the signature of Calvin Ramsey of Aberdeen, according to multiple sources.

At the age of 18, Ramsay is a right-back of significant top-flight experience, having made 22 Scottish Premiership appearances this season. A player of considerable talent who likes to charge forward whenever he can, he has one goal and five assists in the league.

Leeds arguably need a young player for the role, with both their current options, Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas, in their thirties. Meanwhile, Liverpool could use a proper understudy for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with offers for Neco Williams, currently on loan at Fulham, expected to come and to be considered. Manager Jurgen Klopp has occasionally used Joe Gomez in the role, but he’s made it clear more than once that he sees the England international as a centre-back in the future.

Aberdeen reportedly demand £4 million plus around £2m in add-ons for Ramsay, whose contract runs until 2024.
