According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are preparing to compete against Manchester United for the services for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
The Merseysiders have had the left-back position covered very well for years with a top-class player in Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas as a very decent backup option. However, Robertson’s form has left a lot to be desired this season, and an ankle injury suffered by Tsimikas has left coach Arne Slot with little choice but to restore the Scotland captain to the starting XI.
Meanwhile, United have been struggling with that issue for a long time, with Luke Shaw perpetually on the sidelines and Tyrell Malacia apparently going down the same path. Diogo Dalot, a right-footed player and a right-back by trade, has been the man covering the position. Newly appointed boss Ruben Amorim has managed to overcome the problem to an extent by switching to a three-at-the-back system, but the need for a new left-back at Old Trafford is quite obvious.
The report claims Liverpool are looking to sign Kerkez as soon as in January, with Bournemouth demanding £40 million. Another potential target they’ve been considering is Rayan Ait-Nouri, though the Wolves man is expected to be a more expensive option.
