Contrary to a number of recent reports, Liverpool are NOT actively pursuing a deal to sign Luis Diaz from FC Porto at the moment, according to Fabrizio Romano and James Pearce of The Athletic.
Romano says both clubs have denied the rumours. Liverpool have scouted the forward, who turns 25 this month, several times throughout 2021, but there are no ongoing talks about a transfer at the moment with the Merseysiders focused on getting Mohamed Salah to sign a new contract instead.
Liverpool and Porto sources deny contacts/talks over Luis Díaz move in January. There’s no proposal to discuss, as things stand. 🔴🇨🇴 #LFC
Liverpool sent their scout to follow Díaz five times last year but there’s no negotiation now.

Pearce adds that the price for the Porto attacker, believed to be set at €80 million under the terms of his contract, is deemed too steep at Anfield given that he would be starting his life on Merseyside as a backup option. Apparently, they value his signature at around half the amount.
