Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica has suggested that Liverpool and Roma are in the race to sign Fiorentina goalkeeper Norberto Neto.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form ever since he nailed down a regular starting berth at Artemio Franchi, but Viola face a tough task of keeping hold of their star player seeing as how his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
According to La Repubblica, Fiorentina have just offered the Brazilian a new contract worth €1.5 million per campaign, but they, nonetheless, fear that Neto will continue his career elsewhere.
The same report suggests that Roma and Liverpool are both ready to propose the goalkeeper a hefty pay rise, with the Reds hoping to prize him to Anfield with an offer of €1.9 million per season.
While Liverpool desperately need a new keeper to provide competition for Simon Mignolet, Roma are on the lookout for a long-term successor to veteran Morgan De Sanctis.
