Liverpool remain interested in signing Fabio Carvalho from Fulham after their attempt to do so on the final day of the January window fell through at the eleventh hour, manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.
Carvalho broke into the first team at Fulham last season, making four appearances in the Premier League before the Cottagers were relegated. This term, he’s got 18 appearances in the Championship, with seven goals and four assists to his name.
Liverpool moved for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder on the final day of January, but the negotiations with Fulham took longer than expected. The agreement was reached in the end, both between the clubs and on personal terms, but it was simply too late for the necessary formalities to be completed before the 11PM deadline.
Many believe the Merseysiders are still in pole position to bring Carvalho to Anfield, but the fact remains that the door is still open for other clubs to try and steal the move in the summer, and there has been plenty of interest.
Klopp on Fabio Carvalho
“I don’t know. We will see. We are obviously still interested, it would be crazy if not! But it’s not in our hands. We will see what happens.”#LFC
