Liverpool haven’t had the best of starts in their Premier League campaign this term, and at the moment, they’re in eighth place with nine points, nine less than Arsenal in the lead and eight less than defending champions Manchester City who are second. The gap to the top is not to be laughed at for the Merseysiders, even though they have a game in hand on both leading teams.
Former defender Jamie Carragher has pointed out that his old club managed to close an even bigger gap to Manchester City last season and believes they have what it takes to do it again.
Interestingly, though he doesn’t mention Arsenal at all.
