Spanish daily newspaper AS understands that Liverpool have joined the race for Atletico Madrid starlet Javi Manquillo.
Despite making just three league appearances for los Colchoneros last term, the 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of country’s hottest prospects, as witnessed by the interest from top European club.
And while Marseille were believed to be leading the chase for his signature, the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool seem to have effectively eliminated the French side out of the race.
The Gunners have offered to sign Manquillo on a season-long loan, but the problem is Atletico officials do not seem keen on such an arrangement.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have reignited their interest in the player, and while they, too, plan to recruit the youngster on a season-long loan, the Reds would also include a buy-out option.
Manquillo himself appears tempted by the prospect of moving to English Premier League, but it remains to be seen whether his suitors can find an agreement with Atletico.
