Radio Monte Carlo has suggested that Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign Argentine forward Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica.
The Reds have already recruited Rickie Lambert, Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana, but it appears they are on the lookout for another attacker.
According to Radio Monte Carlo, Liverpool are considering a €38 million bid for Benfica star Nicolas Gaitan.
The same source understands that the player has an agreement in principle to sign for Monaco, who seem ready to match his €45 million release clause.
Nevertheless, Liverpool officials will attempt to persuade Gaitan to move to Anfield instead, even if that is going to be a difficult task.
The 26-year-old has impressed since joining the Eagles from Boca Juniors four years ago, making 100 league appearances and scoring 17 goals in the process.
Gaitan, who currently has six Argentina caps to his name, hopes a big club move would help him end his international exile.
