Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has emerged as a possible January transfer target for Premier League duo Liverpool and Chelsea, according to reports in France.
RMC Sport is suggesting that 20-year-old French midfielder has been closely monitored by both Reds and Blues for a while now and it’s fair to assume it won’t be too long before the classy midfielder has left Lyon for pastures greener.
Compared to former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho, the talented youngster is capable of filling in the No.10 role but is also good at playing wider towards the left side of the pitch.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is said to have taken a personal interest in the player and is ready to challenge his Liverpool counterpart for Aouar’s signature.
In the meantime, Barcelona are also said to be following the midfielder who is under contract with Lyon until 2023.
Houssem Aouar is a Lyon graduate who spent his entire career with the League 1 outfit.
This season Aouar made 17 appearances during which time he scored five goals and registered four assists.
