Liverpool close in on Mamadarshvili

Liverpool are actively working on signing goalkeeper Giorgi Mamadarshvili from Valencia, with the idea of loaning him out for the 2024/25 season, according to Fabrizio Romano. The talks between the two clubs are progressing, and the Georgia international himself is apparently keen on such a deal, which should be worth in excess of €30 million in terms of transfer fee.

Alisson Becker obviously remains an undisputed No. 1 at Liverpool. There are three years left on the contract of the Brazilian who turns 32 at the start of October, and it seems the Merseysiders have identified a long-term replacement in the 23-year-old Valencia shot-stopper.

Despite Mamadarshvili’s proposed immediate loan away from Anfield, his transfer to Liverpool would obviously add a few more question marks over the future of Caoimhin Kelleher. Having likely hoped to replace Alisson between the posts one day himself, the 25-year-old Irish goalkeeper could hardly maintain such a hope if he’s to compete against Mamadarshvili, one of the best in the role at this year’s Euros.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Mamadarshvili’s loan would likely be back to Valencia for 2024/25.
