Liverpool consider Ruddy move

The Metro understands that Liverpool are considering a January move for Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers dropped Simon Mignolet for the first time in the league this season for Sunday afternoon’s trip to Manchester United, but his replacement Brad Jones could not prevent last season’s runners-up losing 3-0 to their great rivals.

Ruddy, who has been capped just once for England, was left out of Roy Hodgson’s squad for this summer’s World Cup finals following the Canaries relegation to the Championship, and would surely relish a return to the top flight in order to boost his international credentials.

Liverpool’s defeat to United saw them slip to tenth place, and they will drop into the bottom half of the table if Everton beat Queens Park Rangers at Goodison Park on Monday evening.

Having finished just two points behind champions Manchester City last season, Liverpool can now be backed at 15/2 to make the top four this time around.
