Liverpool are interested in signing Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021, according to The Athletic. It has been reported that the defending Premier League champions are looking to bolster their defence and are monitoring the 23-year-old centre-back.
Konsa joined Villa from Brentford in the Championship for a transfer fee of £12 million. The 23-year-old has established himself as an important player in Dean Smith’s side and is a big reason why the Villans are challenging for the Champions League places in the Premier League table this season.
It is slightly bemusing why Liverpool are still looking for a new centre-back. Ben Davies joined the Reds from Preston North End and Ozan Kabak moved to Anfield on loan from Schalke on transfer deadline day. Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will be back from their respective injuries for next season, and Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams are the other options for manager Jurgen Klopp at the moment.
