Liverpool considering Benteke move

Liverpool are readying a move for Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke to fill that gap that will be left should Luis Suarez leave Anfield, according to the Mail Online.

The 22 year old, who is currently on international duty with Belgium, is set for talks regarding his future once he returns to England.

A number of clubs are interested in signing the striker, whose 19 league goals helped steer the Midlands club to safety last season, though manager Paul Lambert is keen for him to remain at Villa Park.

Suarez last week confirmed that he is seeking a move away from Liverpool, though the club have insisted that their star player is not for sale.

However, with Andy Carroll also set to secure a permanent move away from the club, and Daniel Sturridge likely to miss the start of the season after being injured whilst on international duty, new attacking options will surely be high on Brendan Rodgers’ agenda.
