Liverpool have contacted RB Leipzig over the possibility of signing Timo Werner this summer, according to SportBild.
Werner had apparently agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, and Leipzig weren’t pleased about the situation. They expressed strong dissatisfaction with such a development by saying that no-one from Bayern (or Werner’s representatives for that matter) had contacted them about it, and that no deal had been agreed. Bayern remained silent.
It seems the story has taken another sharp turn with Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski agreeing terms with the Bavarian club for further four years.
Liverpool, who have also been linked with the 22-year-old striker in the past, have now made contact with Leipzig. The two clubs enjoy a good relationship after the transfer of Naby Keita saw Leipzig bank in around €60 million. Further more, Keita recently spoke about Werner and said he would talk to his former teammate about joining him at Anfield, should he decide to move.
