Liverpool could pursue Martinez

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Liverpool view Lautaro Martinez as their ideal long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino.

Martinez has been one of the shining lights for Inter Milan ever since arriving at the club and he’d have every reason to stay based on their continued success. Alas, the allure of testing yourself in the Premier League has often proved to be the deciding factor for many players in years gone by, and there’s every chance Martinez could opt for pastures new in the next couple of years.

In terms of the age gap between the two players mentioned, it definitely makes sense for Martinez to be seen as the future. Firmino is 30 years old and while he likely still has a few good years left at the elite level, Martinez is 24 and is going from strength to strength with each passing day.

It’ll take some time, but this could be really plausible in the next couple of transfer windows.
