Liverpool have reportedly denied any interest in signing Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.
The controversial Spaniard became an extremely unpopular character with Liverpool supporters following his unpunished antics in last year’s Champions League final, when he helped his team win the trophy by injuring Mohamed Salah and elbowing Loris Karius to the head. Both these incidents were missed by the officials and as there was no VAR in place back then, he was able to laugh Salah off the pitch and raise the trophy in celebration after the game.
In a stunt similar to the one he pulled back in 2015, Ramos has once again threatened to leave Real this summer, and some media outlets were quick to link him to Liverpool, despite everything that happened in that final.
However, the Mirror now report that they’ve been told by a source at Anfield, that Liverpool have no intention of signing Ramos. It has nothing to do with that night in Kiev, it’s simply that he doesn’t fit the profile of the players manager Jurgen Klopp is after. They wouldn’t sign him even if he’d behaved sportingly, and even if he was available on a free transfer.
