German daily newspaper Bild has suggested that Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are locked in the battle for Bayern Munich forward Mario Gotze.
The Germany hotshot has been informed that he has no future at Allianz Arena and with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season, the Bavarians are desperate to cash in this summer.
According to Bild, his former coach Jurgen Klopp hopes to get reunited with Gotze at Anfield, but could now face stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund.
The Millionaires are prepared to bring the highly rated footballer back to Signal-Iduna Park and get revenge on their rivals for signing Mats Hummels.
Mario Gotze has seen his first team chances severely limited under Pep Guardiola and new boss Carlo Ancelotti reportedly sees the 23-year-old as mere back-up as well.
His suitors Liverpool will be facing holders Sevilla in the Europa League final and they are 8/11 favourites to lift the coveted trophy.
