Liverpool are closing in on an £8m deal for Paris Saint Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to the Telegraph.
The Merseyside club have been given a boost in their hopes of landing the Argentina international, with the Ligue 1 Champions ready to move for Benfica’s Nicloas Gaitan as a replacement.
Lavezzi moved to the French capital in the summer of 2012, and has since made one hundred and nine appearances in all competitions, scoring twenty-five goals, while he has been part of the squads that have won back to back titles, as well as the French League up last year.
Internationally, he has scored four goals in thirty-seven games for his country, with one of those appearances coming in last summer’s World Cup final in Brazil where Argentina lost to Germany in extra time.
Liverpool’s current selection of strikers have scored just three league goals so far this season, with Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert all netting just once.
