According to Football Insider, Liverpool intend to refresh their attacking options next summer, and one of the potential targets in the transfer market is Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi.
Liverpool face the very real possibility of losing Mohamed Salah at the end of the season, with the Egyptian’s contract set to expire. There have been reports suggesting plans to hold talks over a new one, but none have reported any progress on that front as of yet. Furthermore, the only left-footed player who could possibly replace Salah on the right flank in Arne Slot’s current ranks is Harvey Elliott, who is not only injured at the moment, but also puts in better performances in midfield. From that point of view, a move for Adeyemi makes perfect sense.
Adeyemi is only 22, and though his output numbers aren’t great at this stage of his career (16 goals and 12 assists in 73 matches in all competitions for Dortmund), there’s obviously plenty of time and potential for improvement. After all, Salah himself was deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea at the age of 22.
Adeyemi’s contract at Dortmund runs until the summer of 2027.
