Well-known and well-respected journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has claimed on Twitter that Liverpool are interested in signing Ruben Semedo from Olympiacos in the January transfer window. The defending Premier League champions have asked the Greek giants about the centre-back, who will cost the Reds at least €20 million in transfer fees.
#LFC just made a question to #Olympiacos about the financial status of a possible transfer for CB Ruben Semedo. Nothing more than that till now. Olympiacos will demand at least €20m. #LiverpoolFC

Liverpool are on the hunt for a new centre-back, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both likely to miss the rest of the season due to injuries. Fabinho has done well when he has been deployed as a central defender, but the Brazil international is a defensive midfielder by trade.
Semedo, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, has been on the books of Olympiacos since the summer of 2019. The 26-year-old has experience of playing in the Champions League and in the Europa League with the Greek club. Liverpool are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from eight matches.
