Liverpool eyeing Fabio Sturgeon
Daily Mirror understands that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Belenenses midfielder Fabio Sturgeon.
The Reds have watched the youngster of several occasions after he had caught their eye, and they plan to lure him to Anfield in the near future.
Portuguese powerhouse Benfica are also believed to be keen, but Sturgeon reportedly prefers a move to the Premier League given that his father is English.
And with the player valued at mere £2.4 million, it is only a matter of time before Liverpool decide to step up their interest.
The attacking midfielder has been at Belenenses since 2010 and has so far featured in 22 league matches for the club.
Sturgeon nailed down a regular starting berth this season, starting five Primeira Liga games and scored one goal in the process.
Carroll linked with Newcastle return
Newcastle United will be offered a chance to re-sign striker Andy Carroll in the January transfer window, according to Evening Chronicle.
The Hammers appear to be fed up with the player’s ongoing injury problems and they are ready to offload him in the winter.
And with Newcastle reportedly interested in his services, West Ham aim to try and persuade the Magpies into submitting an official proposal.
Alan Pardew is desperate to sign a new striker in January despite the recent resurgence of Papiss Cisse and he seems ready to take a gamble with Carroll.
The 25-year-old is currently out with an ankle injury and he has yet to feature for the Hammers this season.
Since leaving Newcastle for Liverpool in a record deal, Carroll has managed mere 15 goals in 83 Premier League outings.
Stuttgart to tie down Germany starlet
German magazine Kicker has learned that Stuttgart are set to offer a new deal to youngster Antonio Rudiger.
The highly rated defender is already on the radar of Europe’s top clubs and the Swabians rejected several lucrative offers for his services in the summer.
And even though the 21-year-old has a contract until June 2017 at Mercedes-Benz Arena, the club plan to offer him a new and improved deal in an attempt to ward off interest in the player’s services.
Despite his fragile age, Rudiger has so far made 54 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart, scoring 2 goals in the process.
The centre-back made his first competitive appearance for Germany as he started the 2-0 defeat to Poland, albeit playing at right back.
Die Mannschaft host Ireland tomorrow evening hoping to make amends for said loss and they are 1/4 favourites to claim maximum points.
