Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo, A Bola has revealed on Tuesday.
The Reds had scouts present at the weekend’s Primeira Liga derby between Sporting and Porto and were reportedly impressed by the Argentine full-back.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on luring Rojo to Anfield, where he would challenge Jose Enrique for a starting berth.
Marcos Rojo has so far caught the eye of quite a few top European clubs, and there is every chance he will be leaving the Lions after the 2014 World Cup.
Sporting Lisbon only own 25% of his contract, with Doyen Sports investment company the majority owner.
Given that Rojo has long ago nailed down a regular starting berth in the national team, the owners believe his price will increase further after the World Cup.
Sporting remained in the title chase as they recorded a 1-0 triumph over FC Porto, but they are still 9/1 shot for the league trophy.
