Liverpool could be set to join Arsenal in the race to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, according to the Mirror.
The Gunners are ready to meet the £20m release clause in the England international’s contract though the Reds may throw their hat in the ring after monitoring his situation for two years.
The Merseyside outfit have four recognised strikers in their first team in Divock Origi, Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke and would be likely to sell one, potentially the latter should a move for Vardy materialize.
Vardy lit the Premier League alight last season with twenty-four goals in thirty-six appearances – a tally that was only bettered by fellow England international Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.
His form saw him fire his way into Roy Hodgson’s England squad, and he is priced at 11/2 to open the scoring against Russia on Saturday.
