Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed the Liverpool tried to sign him in the summer, according to the Mail Online.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers attempted to secure the services of the twenty-two year old but the approach was rejected by the Bundesliga champions.
The Swiss international has struggled to hold down a regular first team place under Pep Guardiola, and is unsure whether to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2016, when his current deal is set to expire.
He was the stand out performer for the Swiss at this summer’s World Cup finals, scoring a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Honduras in the group stages of the competitions, and is set to win his thirty-eight cap in this evening’s Euro 2016 qualifier against England.
The 22 year old is priced at 7/1 to score the first goal of the game, with Switerland favourites to take all three points.
