Liverpool, Gerrard and Kuyt extend their contracts

Captain Steven Gerrard and striker Dirk Kuyt have both agreed two-year contract extensions with Liverpool. Manager Rafael Benítez was delighted to tie the 28-year-old duo to longer deals, with Kuyt’s now due to run until 2012 and Gerrard’s until the following year.

“To have announced new deals for Steven and Dirk on the same day shows how hard everyone is working and that we are moving forward quickly as a club,” said Benítez. “These are very positive messages and I am very happy”.
