Liverpool have had a bid rejected from Real Madrid for their midfielder Esteban Granero, that’s according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds could now look to make another bid for Granero as Brendan Rodgers looks to bring fresh faces to Merseyside.
The 25-year-old has been linked with moves to Arsenal in the past, however it is now Rodgers side who are keen on securing his services.
The Spaniard started just seven games for the La Liga Champions last campaign and may feel he needs a move away from the Bernabeu to guarantee first team football.
With Real also being apparently interested in signing Luka Modric from Tottenham, this would make competition for places even stronger in the squad and possibly put Granero further down the pecking order.
With Grenero now entering the peak of his career, a regular place in a starting eleven is all the more important to prove himself as a top player.
Liverpool will need to increase their bid if they want to bring the midfielder to Anfield, however if the price tag is too much they may be forced to look elsewhere.
Should the Spanish giants want to strengthen their squad, some players may need to leave before others come in.
We shall see.
