Marca is reporting that Liverpool have had a big money offer for Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez rejected by the La Liga side.
The Reds appear determined to lure the Spanish centre-back to Anfield and reportedly offered €20 million for his services.
However, Real Sociedad rejected the proposal, referring the Reds to the player’s €30 million release clause.
Having cashed in on Antoine Griezmann and Claudio Bravo last summer, La Real are under no pressure to sell their star players and have no plans to let Martinez leave unless their asking price is matched.
Despite having a bid rejected, Liverpool are not ready to give up on their target just yet, and could add a number of performance related bonuses to the deal.
Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on Inigo Martinez, who has so far amassed a total of 157 league appearances for Real Sociedad, scoring 14 goals.
