James Pearce, a reasonably reliable Liverpool Echo reporter specializing in Liverpool FC, claims the club have no interest whatsoever in Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian’s contract with United is set to expire this summer, and there have been reports that Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign him on a free transfer as a replacement for Emre Can. Can, who is in a similar situation to Fellaini, has yet to make a decision on his future and should he leave, Liverpool are likely to need a replacement.
But Pearce is convinced the Merseyside club have absolutely no desire to get Fellaini to Anfield, as a player less suited for Liverpool’s quick-transition style can hardly be imagined. He also points out that there hasn’t been a direct move between Manchester United and Liverpool since 1964, and he is adamant that is how it will remain this summer.
He even goes as far as to claim the club are likelier to resign the retired 38-year-old Christian Poulsen, who spent one year at Anfield and is still considered as one Liverpool’s biggest flops ever.
