Liverpool hopeful on Benzema

Liverpool are desperate to finalise a £38m deal for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to the Metro.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful of adding another striker during this transfer window, as his current selection of strikers have managed just four league goals between them so far this season.

Rickie Lambert bagged his second of the campaign in Saturday’s win over Aston Villa, while Fabio Borini opened his season’s account in the same game.

Daniel Sturridge also has just one, but has been out injured since early September while both of Mario Balotelli’s goals for the club have come in cup competitions.

Benzema has been continuously linked with a move away from the Bernabeu despite remaining consistent in terms of goals scored, with the France international netting thirteen in all competitions this season.

Liverpool host Bolton Wanderers in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, and can be backed at 3/10 for the win.
